"This wine tour was easily one of the highlights of our time in Santorini. From start to finish, the entire experience was fantastic, and you definitely get more than what you pay for. We visited some great wineries, learned a lot about Santorini’s unique wines and growing process, and were able to try a really good variety without ever feeling rushed. Our tour guide did and amazing job of explaining the wines and how everything worked together in Santorini. The best part was how the tour was planned out. Every stop was enjoyable, but saving the last winery for sunset was absolutely perfect. The view was incredible and watching the Santorini sunset while enjoying wine was one of those experiences you just don’t forget. It was the perfect way to end the tour. How a Santorini Sunset Wine Tour Runs

Afternoon departures collect across Fira, Firostefani, Imerovigli, Oia, Kamari and Perissa. The van works a loop, so the first guest aboard can be riding 45–60 minutes before the last one.
The Vineyard, Before Any Cellar

The sunset premium is real, and it is worth understanding before you compare two listings that look identical.
Search “Santorini wine tour” and the results split into two price bands that look, at a glance, like the same product at different quality levels. They are not. They are the same product at different times of day.
The premium is for the last hour
Santorini has fewer than twenty cellars equipped to take tour groups, and the operators rotate the same core estates — Santo Wines, Venetsanos, Estate Argyros, Domaine Sigalas, Gaia, Hatzidakis, Art Space. A morning tour and an afternoon tour will often visit the identical three.
What differs is that the afternoon route is sequenced so the final tasting lands on a west-facing terrace at sunset. That single scheduling decision is the difference between roughly $145 and roughly $209 for the same number of pours.
It is not a con. The caldera at sunset from a cellar terrace is genuinely one of the better hours available anywhere in the Aegean, and you are drinking through it rather than fighting for a wall space in Oia. But you should know that is what the money buys, because if the wine is your priority the morning tour gives you the same flight with cooler cellars, more of the guide’s attention, and change left over.
Which sunset tour to book
Our pick is the small-group sunset tour finishing at Santo Wines — Domaine Sigalas and Estate Argyros first, then Santo on the rim above Pyrgos, twelve pours, and a hard cap of ten guests. It carries 877 reviews at 4.9, which is the strongest record of any genuine wine tour on the island.

Book earlier than you think
Two things compress availability. The sunset slots are the ones everyone wants, so they go first — in July and August, days ahead. And several operators need a minimum number of travellers to run at all, so a thinly booked departure can be cancelled and rebooked onto another date.

One practical warning
